The SERVICE will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home, Appleton City, Missouri at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013.
The MINISTER will be Reverend Mark Wilkerson.
VISITATION will be at Hill and Son Funeral Home Friday, June 28, 2013 at 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. - one hour prior to service.
A MASONIC SERVICE will be presented by Ron Nissen.
INTERMENT will be in Appleton City Cemetery.
The family suggests that MEMORIALS can be made to First Baptist Church - Appleton City or
Appleton City Cemetery.
John Byron Browning, 100, son of Lee Lawrence and Anna Brown Browning was born April 11, 1913 in rural Henry County. He attended the one room Browning School in rural Henry County and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1931.
In February, 1942, he was drafted into the Army Air Corp. and spent 46 months as an instructor of flight engineers for the B-29 airplane.
After the service, he returned to the farm where he resided until his health failed and he moved to the Residential Care Facility, then to Appleton City Manor in February of 2013. On April 11, 2013 he had a very enjoyable 100th birthday celebration.
John was a member of First Baptist Church, Appleton City, Missouri. He joined the Masonic Lodge #412 AF & AM in 1934. He enjoyed his lodge work very much and was also a member of York Rite of Masonry and the Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City. He was also a member of the American Legion in Butler, Missouri.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bertie Lee Browning. He is survived by a niece, Carol Ann Browning, M.D. of Bayside, Wisconsin and several cousins.
John enjoyed history and genealogy and wrote a Browning - Johnson family history.
He will be missed by his many friends and relatives.
