Obituary

The FUNERAL SERVICE FOR Mrs. Dains will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.

The MINISTER will be Reverend Kasey Beaton.

VISITATION will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home Friday, December 26, 2014 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.

INTERMENT will be in Rockville Cemetery, Rockville, Missouri.

The family suggests MEMORIAL donations may be made to the Rockville Cemetery.

Joela Mae (Newell) Dains, daughter of George Garrison and Mabelle Edith (Watts) Newell was born August 17, 1930 in Rockville, Missouri. She passed away at her home on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the age of 84.

Joela lived in the Rockville area all her life. She attended Rockville School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1948. She enjoyed playing basketball during her high school years.

On January 14, 1951, Joela was united in marriage to Willard L. "Bill" Dains in Rockville, Missouri. Joela was a devoted farm wife and homemaker.

Joela was a member of the Rockville United Methodist Church. During her life, Joela was very active in many clubs and activities including: Osage Club, Prairie Queen Garden Club, OES, PTO, Appleton City R-II School Board for 12 years, EMT at Ellett Memorial Hospital, volunteering many years with Evelyn Brown Laney Hospice, McGinnis Youth Center in Rich Hill, Election Board, Hoover 4-H and Hudson Hustler 4-H leader, Rockville Cemetery sexton and was a founding member of Mt. Zion Ladies Club. She did all this while raising her two sons and being very involved in whatever her family was doing. She loved to sew and she made rag rugs. She also had a green thumb. She loved to raise plants and share them with other people.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willard L. "Bill" Dains; brother and sister-in-law George W. Newell (Virginia).

She is survived by sons: Ronnie Dains (Debbie) and Darrell Dains (Kim); grandchildren: Misty Long (Mark), Mendy Bowlby (Jake), Kristie Dains (Casey), Kalie Dains (Tyler), Katie Evans (Tyler), Isaac Dains (Heather), and Adam Dains; great-grandchildren: Tayton Dains, Jarrett and Jace Long, and Dain Bowlby; sisters-in-law: Laverne Motley and Mary Lou Holt; brother and sister-in-law Jay and Kathy Dains and several nieces and nephews.

Joela loved people and was always lending a hand to anyone. She always had a smile and a kind word for anyone she met.
