The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Reed will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Monday, September 29, 2014 at
12:00 p.m.
The MINISTER will be Reverend Chad McMullin.
VISITATION will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 11:00 - 12:00 a.m. preceding the service.
INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.

Alzheimer's Association.
Joe Jimmie Reed, 73, son of Earnest and Evon Reed was born February 5, 1941 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri. He passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover, Missouri where he was loved and very well cared for by a compassionate staff.
Joe was lovingly called "Grumpy" by his many friends and family. He spent his youth in Appleton City playing football and graduating from Appleton City High School. During this time he helped work in the family business.
Joe was united in marriage to Catherine Ewers Sexton. They made their home in Kansas City, Missouri where he worked for Townsend Publishing before becoming the owner of the IHOP in North Kansas City. He later acquired the IHOP in Independence, Missouri.
In later years, Joe, Cathie and their family resided at Lake Winnebago, Missouri, making many life-long friends. They later purchased and lived at the Rebel Harbor Marina at the Lake of the Ozarks. Joe enjoyed fishing from the Florida Keys to the Missouri Lakes.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bessie Marie and Earnest LeRoy. He is survived by his loving wife, Cathie; children: Kim (Steve) Engstrom, Melanie (David) Fogel, Liza Reed and Scott (Cheryl) Reed; grandchildren: Courtney, Bryan, Madeline, Derek and Cody; great-grandchildren: Alex, Wyatt and Quentin; sister, Donna Polland, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Joe cared deeply for his family. He enjoyed his many friendships, never met a stranger and never completed a joke without laughing through the punch line.
