Joan Foster Strope Pullen was born November 11, 1930 near Appleton City, Missouri to George, Sr. and Eunice (Frey) Foster. She passed away at the Golden Living Center in Clinton, Missouri October 26, 2011 at 80 years of age.
Joan and Richard H. Strope were married in 1950 and to this union three sons were born, Rick, Joe and Doug. They started their married life in Appleton City with Richard working at Schlichtman Hatchery and Joan as a homemaker. They moved to Independence, Missouri in 1951 where Richard worked at Lake City Ammunitions. Joan was a devoted wife and loving mother. They moved to Montrose, Missouri in 1960 where they owned and operated Strope Sundries until 1979. Following Richard's death October 29, 1981, Joan moved to Clinton where she made her home. She met and later married Elmer E. Pullen July 11, 1992. They enjoyed their retirement years together until Elmer's passing May 7, 2000. Joan enjoyed cooking for her family, especially holiday dinners, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding Joan in death were her parents, her husbands, one sister Elizabeth Foster and one brother George Foster, Jr.
Survivors include her three sons, Richard Strope and wife Connie of Clinton, Missouri, Joe Strope and wife Marilyn of Parker, Colorado, Doug Strope and wife Vicki of Belton, Missouri and; eight grandchildren, Kimberly and husband Jim Caffey, Jeremy Strope, Ben Strope and wife Claire, Kristina and husband Mark Calhoun, Kyla and husband Bryan Inman, Angela and husband Chris Steward, Ashley Strope and Derek Strope; three great-grandchildren, Deanna Strope, Carson Steward and Palynn Inman; four siblings, Stella Jones, Jake Foster and wife Georgia, Dora and husband Maynard Cole, and Margaret and husband A.C. Dines.
