Jimmie Ray Shouse, 63, son of Walter William "Jack" and Audrey Arlene (Heiserman) Shouse, was born September 13, 1948 in Appleton City, Missouri. He passed from this life March 17, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

Jim had lived all his life in the Rockville, Missouri area. Following high school graduation he entered the U.S. Army on April 24, 1968 and served most of his tour of duty in Phan Rang, Vietnam.

Jim and Sherry Louise Bauer were united in marriage June 25, 1971 and to this union two children were born. On April 30, 1972 he was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City, Missouri. Jim had been a meat cutter for 13 years and also worked for Dairiconcepts in El Dorado Springs, Missouri retiring in 2004. He was a man of many talents and an avid outdoorsman. Throughout his life he loved hunting, fishing and camping. Jim enjoyed hunting coyote with his favorite Walker hound, Chopper. He loved hunting deer and elk in Colorado with family and friends. There were also much enjoyed trips to pheasant hunt in Kansas. Jim and son, Brandon, made wonderful memories fishing for crappie at Mark Twain Lake. Later the grandchildren were added to fishing trips for catfish on the Osage River. Jim liked doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku and really enjoyed reading western novels. Traveling with wife, Sherry, to many of the southwestern towns he read about in his books including places in Colorado, the Black Hills, the Dakotas, Montana and Nevada became an important part of his life as well. Jim also liked raising cattle and caring for his honeybees and hives.

Preceding Jim in death were his father, Jack Shouse; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Ray Pennington and Allyson Marie Shouse; and one sister Ruby Phyllis Shouse.

Survivors include his wife Sherry of the home; daughter Kelly Pennington of Rockville; son Brandon Shouse and wife Cara of O'Fallon, Missouri; mother Audrey Shouse of Appleton City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Makayla Pennington, Austin Shouse and Justin Shouse; three sisters, Roxy and husband Gene Rotert of Rockville, Nancy and husband Wayne Brown, and Becky and husband Leland Browning all of Appleton City; three aunts, Josephine and Bud Hauschild of Winlock, Washington, Myrna and Don Tenholder of Montrose, Missouri and Esther Shouse of Rockville, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
