James Perry "Jim" Davis, son of Perry Finley Davis, Jr. and Thelma Lee (Majors) Davis was born October 30, 1944 in Clinton, Missouri. He passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at his residence in Appleton City at 69 years of age.

At the age of 3, Jim and his family moved to Raytown, Missouri where they resided while he attended school, later graduating from Raytown High School. After graduating he moved to Appleton City and began farming with his grandpa Majors. He continued farming throughout his life, both row crops of soybeans, wheat and milo and raising cattle.

On June 21, 1964 he was united in marriage to Virginia Sue Hampton at the First Baptist Church in Appleton City by Brother Markle. He and Sue have resided in the Johnson City, Missouri area all their married life. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age and attended the Christian Church in Appleton City.

Jim was a member of the Appleton City School Board for 6 years. In the 1960s, Jim liked to take his children to horse shows. He enjoyed helping them show their horses. He took great pride in showing his quarter horse "Peter V. McQue" in the Pleasure Class, winning several 1 ^st place trophies.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Reese Davis; and parents-in-law, Orland and Clara Hampton.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sue Davis of the home; children: Kurt Davis (Julie), Susan Siegismund (Philip), and Willie Davis (Andrea); grandchildren: Trevor, Lyndsi and Kennon Davis, Ethan (Michelle), Emily, Cisely, and Madelyn Siegismund, Cameron and Garrett Davis; brother, Larry Davis; sister, Pat Sechler (Erett); brother-in-law, Richard Hampton; sister-in-law, Sally Rives (Luke); several nephews and nieces.

Jim enjoyed time with his kids and grandkids, especially floating and going to the lake. For the last six years, he enjoyed traveling to Wyoming to help trail cattle with his family

He always had a big smile and a friendly handshake for everyone. He will be missed by his family and friends.
