James R. Strickler, son of Charles R. and Irene (Harleman) Strickler, was born June 13, 1939 in St. Clair County, Missouri. He passed away at Ellett Memorial Hospital June 24, 2006 at 67 years of age. He lived most of his life in the Taberville, Missouri area except the years spent serving his country in the U.S. Army. Jim and Shirley Nations were united in marriage March 29, 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma and to this union two sons were born. He worked as a meat cutter for most of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his two grandchildren. Mr. Strickler was a member of the American Legion in Lowry City, Missouri.
Jim was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife Shirley Strickler of the home; his two sons, Charlie Strickler and wife Nancy of Monegaw Springs, Missouri and Lee Strickler and wife Kelly of Taberville, Missouri; his mother Irene Grayer of Appleton City, Missouri; one brother Charles Strickler of Peoria, Arizona; four sisters, Bernice Marshall of Rockville, Missouri, Clara Dunham of Appleton City, Missouri, June Jelks of Rockville, Missouri and Betty Hayes of Harrisonville, Missouri; and two grandchildren, Chelestia Strickler and James Strickler, Jr.
