James M. "Bob" Hilte was born September 16, 1917 in Lowry City, Missouri to John K. and Susie L. (Snethen) Hilte. He passed away March 5, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri at 90 years of age.
Bob lived in the Montrose, Lowry City and Deepwater, Missouri area all of his life. He was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation for 31 years retiring in 1980 as Shed Foreman. He also worked on chain saws and lawn mowers for around 25 years. Mr. Hilte was a member of the United Presbyterian-Methodist Church in Montrose where he had taught Sunday school for about 50 years.
Bob and Alice M. Carter were united in marriage January 19, 1941 in Clinton, Missouri and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year. Bob enjoyed gardening and his favorite thing to make was a big, beautiful garden. He also liked to fish.
Preceding Bob in death were his parents and four brothers, Arnold, Howard, Ernie and Earl Hilte. Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home, their two sons, John P. Hilte and wife Linda of Montrose, Missouri and James C. Hilte and wife Tammy of Appleton City, Missouri, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
