James Irven Elder, son of Lee G. and Orpha M. Elder, was born in Troy, Kansas February 26, 1928. He departed this life January 9, 2009 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri at the age of 80.
Jim spent eight years of his life serving his country in the United States Army and Navy. After his time in the armed forces, Jim worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas. On January 28, 1956 he was united in marriage to Patty Jo Gregg. To this union two children were born, Tricia Lee and Tamberla Faye. Jim was baptized at an early age in the Christian Church in Troy, Kansas and again in the United Methodist Church with his family.
Jim had his own plumbing and electric business until he worked and retired from Peabody Coal as a master electrician. Jim and his wife Patty owned and operated Elder RV in Montrose, Missouri for over 26 years. He was a member of the Ararat Shriners, the Freemasons and the Grand Lodge. Jim was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Orpha Elder; three brothers, Max, Rex and Bobby Elder; six sisters, Ruth MaCaslin, Anna Lee Stadler, Ramona Baker, Hazel Parks, Laura Sterndorf and Emma Elder.
He is survived by his wife Patty of Appleton City; two daughters, Tricia Lee Evans and husband Mark of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Tamberla Faye Cook and husband Jeffrey of Appleton City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Tyler Evans and wife Katie of Lee's Summit, Missouri and Brittany and Cassidy Cook of Appleton City, Missouri; one brother Raymond Elder of Olathe, Kansas; one sister Beverly Bianchi of Omaha, Nebraska; and many loved nieces and nephews.
