A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held for Mr. Gragg at 11:00 a.m.  Friday, May 27 , 2016 at Hill and Son Funeral Home Appleton City, Missouri.

The MINISTER officiating at the service will be Reverend Steve Breon.

VISITATION will held an hour preceding the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

A MILITARY GRAVESIDE ceremony will be presented by the Appleton City VFW Post #11242 and Missouri Honor Guard.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.

Jackie Lee Gragg, 86, the middle child of George "Jack" and Stella Forrest (Keifer) Gragg, was born on August 22, 1929 in rural Rockville, Missouri, and departed this life peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family in Lee's Summit, Missouri on May 16, 2016.

In his youth Jackie attended Appleton City High School until he left to serve his country on in the United States Navy September 18, 1947 during the Korean conflict. He received an honorable discharge in September 1951. Upon his return home he met the love of his life Wanda Marie Snyder, who were married November 17, 1951. To this union three children were born: Douglas Lee, Wanda Sue, and Penny Renee.

As a young man Jackie worked at the gas station in Rockville, then later he purchased a gas station in Appleton City from Henry Snyder. He later sold the business and began working for Appleton City High School as the head Custodian in 1979, where he remained until his retirement in 1999. Throughout his nineteen years of service he ensured the smooth operation of the school district.

Apart from his work, Jackie remained an avid Kansas City sports fan all his life, regularly attending Royals and Chiefs games. He greatly enjoyed reading western novels and watching western films. Furthermore, he rarely missed watching an episode of the Young and Restless with his three cats. Mr. Gragg absolutely loved eating chocolate ice cream. Other than this treat, only the time spent with his friends and family was a more important part of his daily routine. Jack loved going to Loving Arms Daycare where his favorite activity was Bingo. Jackie had a special friend that he called his brown son.

Preceding Jackie in death were his parents, wife Wanda, and son Douglas Lee Gragg. He is survived by his daughters: Sue Gragg and Penny Wrape; grandchildren Lisa Mattson (Jeff), Sabrina Wrape, Christian Wrape, Brian Gahagan, and Tommy Gahagan; step-grandchildren: Matt Dixon and Jon Dixon; great-grandchildren: Abby Mattson, Libby Mattson, Tucker Mattson; sisters: Betty Springstube (Charles) and Linda Tindill; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Jackie will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
