A VISITATION for Howard will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Hill & Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri, from 6:00 - 6:30 p.m. followed by the FUNERAL SERVICE at 6:30 p.m. and then the MILITARY PRESENTATION at 7:00 p.m.

OFFICIATING at the service will be David Hill.

INURNMENT will be in Appleton City Cemetery at a later date.

Any MEMORIAL donations are suggested to be given to Children's Mercy Hospital.

Howard G. Parker was born on November 10, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas. He passed away at the age of 86 at Oak Grove Nursing and Rehab in Oak Grove, Missouri. He had been a resident of Essex of Concordia immediately prior to his death on March 8, 2018.
Howard served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1960. He was proud of his time as a Marine having received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He worked briefly for the police department after the Marine Corps and then for the railroad for over 10 years. He became a commercial truck driver for Consolidated Freight after his railroad days and was a member of the Teamsters Local 41 in Kansas City. Howard and Colleen Gench were married later in life. He enjoyed entertaining friends and family with stories of his over the road and rails experiences.
He belonged to the Grand Lodge of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Missouri (Alpha No. 659 AF & AM North Kansa City).
Howard also cherished his cats and took great efforts to see that they were well cared for.
Howard was one of nine children. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Colleen, his parents Charles H. and Thelma (Morris) Parker, two brothers, Charles A. and Clifford E. Parker, and four sisters, Daisy M. Parker, Thelma Parker, Beverly Parker and Dorothy Brownie.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Ann (Parker) Okon and two sisters Ruth M. Parker and Elma Jean Van Skikes and many good friends. Howard was a loyal friend and will be missed by those who knew him.
