The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Rockville Methodist Church, Rockville, Missouri at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16 2017.

OFFICIATING at the service will be Reverend Bob Fenwick assisted by Cole Heiserman.

VISITATION will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri Sunday, January 15 2017 between 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

A MILITARY GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be presented by the Appleton City VFW Post #11242 and Missouri Honor Guard.

INTERMENT will be in Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.

The family suggests any MEMORIAL donations be given to the Missouri Veteran's Home (Warrensburg, MO.

Howard Herbert Heiserman was born January 6, 1924 to Gilbert Christopher and Virginia Lee (Carrier) Heiserman on the family farm south of Appleton City. Later his family moved into the Rockville area.  During his youth he attended Spring Grove Elementary School, then Hazel Dell School, followed by Elm Grove Elementary, and finally completed his education at Rockville High School.  After his graduation in 1942, he took numerous higher education agriculture classes in Appleton City.  Howard honorably served his country during World War II in the European theater, where he earned five Bronze Star Medals of Valor, among other awards.  When he returned from his tour of duty, he married the love of his life, Dorthy DeLyte (Siegismund) in a double wedding at the Methodist parsonage in Springfield, MO, and they lived happily together for 64 years.  To this union five children were born: Bonnie, Gerald, Barbara, Brenda, and John.

Beyond providing for his wife and children, Howard loved farming. Caring for his farm and especially looking after the cattle delighted him.  He was also renowned for his skill with the longbow, even taking many rabbits with it over the years.  He spent many happy days walking through the fields in the Rockville and Appleton areas hunting quail.  Mr. Heiserman greatly enjoyed searching for arrowheads, and over the years he accumulated a massive collection of these artifacts.  Apart from these activities, he enjoyed water skiing and taught all his children.  Furthermore, the monthly horseback outings of the Saddle Club in Montrose remained one of his most treasured pastimes.  One interesting fact concerning his life came from when he nursed a horse back to life, practically from the dead, which earned him the nickname "Doc." Overall, Howard was a committed, family oriented man, who will be deeply missed by all the relatives and friends who survive him, especially his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Heiserman is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Gerald Alan Heiserman, and two sisters Mary Jane Chandler (Danny), as well as Helen Masoner, one brother, Bud Heiserman, and a great-granddaughter Kristin Thomas. He is survived by his daughters: Bonnie Shelton (Bill), Barbara Dines (Ronnie), Brenda Bauer (Kenny); one son, John Heiserman (Janelle); grandchildren: Bradley (Terri) Shelton, Bryan (Cinzia) Shelton, Kimberly Rene (Marcus) Balthrope, Amy (Eric) Nold, Chad (Amanda) Dines, Janna (Jason) Wareham, Meghan Bauer, Jacob Heiserman, Joshua Heiserman, Jeremiah (Tammy) Heiserman, Liam Heiserman, and 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda (Louie) Rector; one sister-in-law Bonnie (Bud) Heiserman; one brother-in-law R.L. Masoner (Helen), and many treasured friends.
