Helen Ruth (Blackwell) Allison passed away peacefully at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri on August 15, 2017. She was born November 24, 1937, the only daughter of Manual and Loreen (VanWinkle) Blackwell. She spent her formative years around the family farm near Rockville, Missouri and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1955. After completing her education Helen married Robert Allison on November 22, 1959; to this union four children were born: James, Kathryn, Karol and John.
Always being a part of the rural agricultural community outside of Rockville, Helen worked on the farm all of her life, helping her father and later her husband. She attended the rural Rockville Mt. Zion Methodist Church most of her life. Apart from this, she also owned a bookstore, was a real estate broker, a grocery store clerk, and finally a beautician. Beyond her career, Helen devoted herself to her family, who fondly remember her ability to listen patiently with an open mind and excellent cooking skills, especially regarding cinnamon rolls and homemade noodles. Moreover, she was a talented artist who loved painting landscapes that displayed the beauty of nature. Helen also proved a very talented seamstress, and she made most of her family's clothes while they were growing up. In 2010 Helen moved into Appleton City where she enjoyed living in, as well as decorating her "cute little house". She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents Manual and Loreen Blackwell, her husband Robert and brother Clifford Blackwell.
Helen is survived by her children: James (Jonna) Allison, Kathryn (Charles) Morlok, Karol (friend Jay Siele) Smith, and John (Heidi) Allison; grandchildren: John, Jenelle, and Jessica Allison, Lauren and Lyndsi Morlok, Tony (Nicole), Jason (Emily), and Matt (Carry Nicole) Smith, and Brandon Swiger; nine great-grandchildren; one nephew, Paul Blackwell; along with many other cousins, family and friends.
