SERVICES for Mrs. Blomert will be held at Hill & Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, MO on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
VISITATION will be held at the funeral home Saturday, Decembr 29, 2012 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
OFFICIATING the service will be Father Tom Hermes
BURIAL will be at Rockville Cemetery, Rockville, MO
The family suggests MEMORIAL donations be made to Heartland Hospice in Butler, Missouri or to the Clinton Animal Shelter, Clinton, Missouri
Hazel L. Blomert, 68, peacefully departed this life surrounded by her family December 26, 2012 in Appleton City, Missouri.
Hazel was born January 24, 1944 to Elbert Lewis and Mildred Lavone (Fuel) Parks at the family's home near Tightwad, Missouri. They moved to Deepwater, Missouri in 1953 and soon after to Strasburg, Missouri. She attended Kingsville High School before marrying Richard Renick in El Dorado Springs, Missouri in 1959 and to this union one son was born. They made their home in Holden, Missouri for a number of years before Richard lost his life in an accident. In 1967 the family relocated to Appleton City, Missouri where Hazel met Donald Blomert. They were married in 1969 and were blessed with one daughter.
In the 1970's and '80's Hazel worked as a med tech and charge nurse for the hospital. From 1986 to 1995 the Blomert's owned and ran a bar and restaurant in Rockville, "The Whistlestop". Hazel liked fishing, especially for crappie and she enjoyed hunting mushrooms. She loved caring for her cockatiel and dogs, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Preceding Hazel in death were her father Elbert Parks; her mother Mildred Pursley; her husbands, Richard Renick (1964) and Donald Blomert (2005); one sister Charlotte Everett; and one brother A.K. Parks. Survivors include her son Rick Renick and wife Nicole; her daughter Donna Wood and husband James; one granddaughter Megan Mulkey; one grandson Derick Renick; one great-granddaughter Cammie Mulkey; two sisters, Lois Marshall and Marian Winkel and husband Pat; one brother Gene Parks and wife Judy; many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
