The FUNERAL MASS for Mr. Koch will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

OFFICIANT will be Father Tom Hermes.

VISITATION/ROSARY and will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Sunday, February 9, 2014. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m.

MILITARY GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be conducted by Clinton VFW Post 1894 & MO Honor Guard.

INTERMENT will be in St. Ludger's Cemetery, Germantown, Missouri.

The family suggests that MEMORIAL contributions may be made to St. Mary's School.

Gereon Gerard Koch, 99, son of Albert Anthony and Teresa Katherine (Witzel) Koch, was born June 28, 1914 in Germantown, Missouri. He departed this life on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri.

Gereon lived in the Montrose and Germantown area most of his life. He left the area briefly when he proudly served with the US Coast Guard in WWII. He attained the rank of Aviation Machinists Mate first class. When he was overseas in Greenland, he was flight engineer on a PBY-5A-72 submarine hunter.

Gereon was a farmer and loved being on his farm whether it was working the land or checking his cattle. In later years, he spent hours volunteering at St. Mary's School in Montrose. He also led the rosary before mass for many years. He could often be seen along the roadsides collecting aluminum cans for recycling. He always had a story and a joke for his visitors.

Preceding Gereon in death were his parents; sisters, Agnes Moll, Marilyn Boehm, Margaret Mary Koch, and Christina Schlagel; brother, Matthew Koch; and niece, Patricia Moll.

Survivors include his sister, Teresa Brownsberger, Harrisonville, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
