George Edgar Burkentine, 67, was born March 31, 1945 in Salem, New Jersey to Charles Fredrick and Mary Lucille (Ansolvich) Burkentine. He departed this life on December 7, 2012 at the Appleton City Manor Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Clifton Lee "Honda" Burkentine and his great-nephew Joshua Grant Melton.

George is survived by two sisters, Michelle Allison of Salem, New Jersey and Sharon McAllister of Pennsgrove, New Jersey; two brothers, Duane of Newark, Delaware and Charles of Salem, New Jersey; a niece, Lucy Melton and husband Raymond of rural Butler, Missouri; great-niece, Nicole Whitford and husband Daniel of Rockville, Missouri; great-nephew, Joe Melton of rural Butler, Missouri; many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

George grew up in New Jersey. He graduated from Pennsville High School and worked at different professions until he was unable due to the loss of his sight from Retinitis Pigmentosis. He moved to Rockville, Missouri in the mid 1980's to be near his brother, Honda, and family.

He had a great love of guns and although he was blind and had lost a large percentage of his hearing, he could repair guns and reload ammunition. He loved John Wayne and collected all of his movies. He enjoyed listening to Royals baseball games and loved to visit with anyone who would sit and talk about guns, trains, airplanes and old time. He will be missed by his family and friends.
