The SERVICE for Geneva will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Hill and Son Funeral Homein Appleton City, Missouri.
OFFICIATING at the service will be Pastor Tony Reynolds and Pastor Ryan Compos.
VISITATION will be from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home preceding the service .
INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.
A family love fund has been set up for those wishing to give to the MEMORIAL . This can be left at the funeral home before or on the day of the service.
Geneva Mae Smith, 86, departed this life January 19, 2019 in at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born in rural St. Clair County, Missouri May 5, 1932 to James Goldman and Gladys Delsey Taylor. Geneva was united in marriage to Billy Morgan Smith January 3, 1949, and they were blessed with six children. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2003.
Geneva was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching two and three year olds in Sunday School. Along with raising her family, Geneva worked at Cloverleaf Sewing Factory for many years and later as a housekeeper at Ellett Hospital. She was also a gifted seamstress, sewing and mending for her family and the community well into her 80's. She became very involved with projects within the ladies auxiliary of the Appleton City VFW. She always thought of others and put them first. She had a warm, ever-present smile and was a patient, kind, gentle lady.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Billy; two grandsons, Jess Lee Hess and Joseph Smith; one granddaughter Lukrisha Smith; and eight siblings: Shirley Ann Taylor and Wilbur Clyde Taylor in infancy, Thelma Wanita Nichols, Betty Lou Francis, Goldie Taylor, Kenneth James Taylor, Richard Lee Taylor and David Dean Taylor
Survivors include her children: Eva Hadsall (Larry) of Taberville, MO, Gladys Marie Roth (Galen) of Harrisonville, MO, James William Smith (Martha) of Hollister, MO, Danny Smith (Karla) of Calhoun, MO, Mike Smith of Merriam Woods, MO and Jennifer Foley of Appleton City, MO; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsea Pearl Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
All who knew Geneva will miss her greatly and cherish the time they were privileged to spend with her.
