Gene Sampson, 80, son of Marvin Lewis and Mary Elizabeth (Collins) Sampson was born December 16, 1932 in Clinton, Missouri. He passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 in Appleton City, Missouri.

Gene attended Appleton City School and worked at several filling stations, as well as baling hay for local farmers before being drafted to the Army and serving one tour in Korea. His highest rank was Corporal.

On September 24, 1955 he married Georgia Snyder, who was the love of his life, and to this union three sons were born, Rick, Chuck and Kyle.

Gene spent most of his life working as a carpenter and cabinet maker, but what he loved most was working with his sons. He and Georgia loved the Lake of the Ozarks, moving there and later retiring there. They spent their days making hand crafted items, especially log cabin bird feeders, which they were famously known for.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Elizabeth Sampson; wife, Georgia in 2009; and son, Rick Sampson.

Gene is survived by two sons, Chuck Sampson and wife, Norma and Kyle Sampson and wife, Tracey; grandchildren: Jeremy Sampson and wife, Dinah, Dylan Sampson, Elizabeth Sampson, Dusty Sampson, Kalyn Sampson; great-granddaughter, Evy Sampson and many relatives and friends.

Gene's many friends and family loved his "easy-going style", wonderful sense of humor and ever ready smile. He will be deeply missed.
