Florence Catherine Bettels, daughter of Joe and Rose (Kleinsorge) Bettels, was born in Germantown, Missouri on February 21, 1926 the 2nd of three children. She attended elementary school through the 8th grade at Germantown and later in life worked to obtain her GED. Florence began working for the Clearfield Cheese Company as a laborer while she was a young woman. She continued to work there after the company was bought by Schreiber Food, Inc. and retired as a lab supervisor after almost 40 years of service.
Florence lived in the Germantown, Missouri area all of her life. She was a member of St. Ludger's Catholic Church in Germantown until its closing; at that time she transferred her membership to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri. Florence and her brother, Robert, have shared a home together for many years, looking after one another and enjoying each other's company.
Preceding Florence in death were her parents Joe and Rose Bettels, her sister Laura Fick and one nephew Jerry Cook. Survivors include her brother Robert Bettels, and two nephews, Leon Cook and wife Cathy, and Ted Cook and wife Carol.
