Fannie's Funeral Service will be held on Monday December 27, 2021 at 1:00pm at Hill & Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri

A Visitation will be held an hour preceding the service from 12:00-1:00pm at the funeral home.

Elder John Brooks will officiate the service.

The family suggests any memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Appleton City Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home.

Fannie Lou Fenwick passed away at the age of 85 and in doing so won her battle with Alzheimer's. She was born in 1936 in tiny Taberville Missouri to Homer and Fanny Godley (Dodds). She had seven beloved brothers and sisters, including a twin. Waiting for her on the other shore are her mother Fanny, her father Homer, her sisters Rose, Arvie, and Mary and her brothers Clarence and John. Missing her dearly are her husband Richard "Chick" Fenwick, of Springfield MO, twin brother Frank (Barb) Godley of Independence, MO, sister Pat (Godley) Schmidt of Pinckeyville, IL, sons Jeffrey (Sue) Fenwick and Jerry (Crissi) Fenwick of Springfield, MO, five grandchildren, Katherine (Colin) Fenwick Dorsey of St. Louis, MO, Carolyn (Nick) Fenwick Kundert of Columbia, MO, Charles (Kayla) Fenwick of Knob Noster, MO, John (Emily) Fenwick of Springfield, MO, and Richard Fenwick of Dallas TX. She also was loved dearly by her six great grandchildren, Nolan, Susan, Jeffrey, John, Barbara, and Charles. She is loved and missed by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

She graduated from Appleton City High in 1955 and in that year her future husband Richard "Chick" Fenwick asked her out under the guise of trying to find a neighbor of hers. They fell in love and were married in June of 1956 in Taberville, MO. Fannie was his "one and only" for 64 years. They had an eventful marriage which involved moving around the country several times from Missouri, to Kansas, to California, to Virginia, to Nebraska, and finally back home to Missouri. With her two sons, Jeff and Jerry, she was known as a task master with homework and music lessons, a fact that seemed unpleasant at the time but for which they are both now especially grateful. She was enormously proud of the two successful men her efforts produced; both her sons are physicians.

Fannie worked as a school secretary throughout her life, and in 1991 she completed her dream of receiving a college degree in Human Services from Doane University in Lincoln Nebraska at the age of 59. She graduated Cum Laude. She was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ (formerly The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and was an ordained Elder in the Community of Christ church. She was a fine minister, leading people by her example of kindness and good deeds.

Fannie is remembered fondly for her warmth, her delicious pies, her fondness for taking pictures (and her immaculate photo albums), her beautiful welcoming homes, her willingness to help others in need, her silliness and how she loved to laugh, and her unrelenting affection for all her loved ones. Her favorite food was candy and she was a known Easter basket and Christmas stocking thief. She abhorred violence, except maybe where Kit Kat or Turtle bars were concerned. She left her family with a mountain of funny, warm, and happy stories and memories.
