Eugene Arthur Wilson was born July 21, 1912 in Rockville, Missouri to Edward Arthur and Lois (Speer) Wilson. He passed away April 7, 2007 in Clinton, Missouri at 94 years of age.
Gene lived in Rockville until 1928 when the family moved to a farm east of town where he farmed for his father. On June 17, 1934 he and Ruth Elizabeth Ginter were united in marriage and to this union one son, Elton Arthur, was born June 5, 1937. They continued to farm and he was a mail carrier until the fall of 1944, at which time they moved to Montrose purchasing and operating Wilson's Service, a service station and restaurant. In 1955 they moved east of Montrose and built a new home, service station, grocery store and bulk plant and ran a tank truck route until Gene's health failed. Gene enjoyed fishing and worked at Montrose Lake for 16 years and eight years as an agent for the Department of Conservation.
Mr. Wilson was a member of the United Presbyterian-Methodist Church in Montrose, Missouri, the Masonic Lodge AF & AM #412 of Appleton City, Missouri and the George F. Gouley Chapter #90 Royal Arch Masons of Appleton City. He received his 50 year pin in 2003 and was proud of this.
Gene worked hard all his life and was a friend to everyone, always ready to help anyone in need. He was a kind and loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Preceding Mr. Wilson in death were his parents, his wife Ruth, and his son Elton Arthur Wilson. He is survived by one sister Lorelle Casperson of Manhattan, Kansas; one niece Beverly Reed of Manhattan, Kansas; great-nephews; and a very dear friend Brenda Jurgensmeyer, husband and family who stood by him and helped him in his trying times while he was unable to care for himself.
