Eugene G. Klinksick was born in Clinton, Missouri on May 9, 1924 to William H. and Rosa (Raps) Klinksick. He attended grade school in several different places, including the last four years at Zion Lutheran in Prairie City, Missouri. Gene attended three years of high school at Rich Hill before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Eugene was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church April 25, 1937 and confirmed April 2, 1939. His Bible verse – "Verily, verily, I say to you, ye that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation but is passed from death unto life." John 5:24. On May 19, 1946 He married Betty Hammer and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. The Klinksicks lived on the farm and Gene hauled milk for forty-three years, also, water for eighteen years. In 1998 Gene had a heart attack and they retired moving to Appleton City in 2000.
While in the U.S. Navy, Gene was on the destroyer U.S.S. Fitch which escorted General McArthur into Tokyo Bay for the signing of the peace treaty at the end of World War II.
Survivors include his wife Betty; his two sons, Lonnie Klinksick and wife Carolyn, and Davie Klinksick; his two daughters, Wyma and husband Rick Laning, and Nona and husband Artie Yohe. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother Floyd "Shorty" Klinksick and one sister-in-law Elsie Klinksick; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding Gene in death is his brother Harold Klinksick; three sisters, Florence Anderson, Opal Hanna and Allene Salito; and one daughter-in-law Christine Klinksick.
