Ernest Arthur Fennewald, son of Authur and Rosa (Dody) Fennewald was born in St. Clair County, Missouri on July 19, 1930. He passed away quietly June 17, 2010 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at 79 years of age.
Ernest graduated from Appleton City High School in 1948. He worked on the family farm until joining the Army in May of 1952. Ernest spent two years stationed in Japan where he earned a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal. Ernest returned home in 1954 and married Fay Thomas on October 29, 1954. Ernest served on the Appleton City school board for 12 years, nine years as president. Ernest enjoyed woodworking and traveling in the United States. He also enjoyed participating in tractor pulling in his younger days and watching dirt track racing. Ernest also enjoyed his vegetable garden; he prided himself in always having the first ripe tomatoes in town.
Preceding Ernest in death were his parents, his sister Betty Bock and a niece Nancy Sue Bock. Survivors include his wife Fay of the home; six children Gary Fennewald and wife Veronica of Appleton City, Missouri, Jerry Fennewald and wife Betty Jo of Rockville, Missouri, Patty and husband Fred Boehler of Clinton, Missouri Bob Fennewald and wife Nelma of Butler, Missouri, Jim Fennewald and wife Dawn of Freeman, Missouri, Jack Fennewald and wife Maria of Appleton City, Missouri, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
