Elbert Leroy Green of Appleton City, MO passed away on June 16, 2023, at Medicalodge in Butler. Bert was born on December 20, 1940, to Elmer and Ethel (Sutton) Green. He spent his entire life in the Appleton City area, graduating from Appleton City High School in 1958 and working at the hardware store and the Highway Department before committing to follow his dream of being a farmer.

Bert met Anneta Nickless (a city girl) in 1960 in Rich Hill, MO, and they were married on April Fool's Day: April 1, 1961. They joked that they never quite figured out who got "fooled". Bert & Anneta were blessed with three children: Lisa, Chris & Matt. On the farm, you never saw Bert far away from his Ford pickup or John Deere tractor. Bert was a Master Mason and a proud member of the Appleton City Masonic Lodge 412.

Bert is survived by his children Lisa (Mark) Stoddard of Lee's Summit, MO, Christopher (Karen) Green of Appleton City, and Matthew (Ladonna) Green of Appleton City; grandchildren Amy (Jeff) Nold of Urich, MO, Ashlee Stoddard of Des Moines, IA, Brian (Sara) Green of Appleton City, Brett (Jessica) Stoddard of Kansas City, MO, Rachel Green of Kansas City, MO and Clinton Green of Appleton City; and his great grandchildren Braydon (Hannah), Austin (Jaidyn), Kaylean, Evalyn, Brilyn & Ellie. He also leaves behind his special friend Darlene Rosean and many nieces and nephews.

Bert was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Anneta, his parents Elmer & Ethel Green, siblings Evelyn Green, Eddie Green and Erma Wainscott, and brothers-in-law Mike Morris and Ron Wainscott.
