Elaine Noble, daughter of Alva Worth and Flora E. (Paul) Ridgway, was born October 9, 1924 on a farm near Appleton City, Missouri. She quietly departed this life at her home in Appleton City August 18, 2009 at 84 years of age.
During childhood her family moved to Calhoun, Missouri where she finished elementary school and graduated from Calhoun High School. During World War II she worked in Kansas City and also Windsor. After the war she attended cosmetology school in Kansas City and after obtaining her license moved back to Appleton City where she was employed by Allen's Beauty Shoppe. Elaine and Ralph Durward Noble were united in marriage April 30, 1950 at the Baptist Church in Appleton City and to this union three children were born: Patricia Kay, Mary Ann and Paul Durward. In the 1960's Ralph built a room onto their home for Elaine to have a beauty shop. She operated her beauty shop for about 25 years until her retirement. Following her retirement she cared for her husband, Ralph, who was in poor health. She made her confession of faith in her early years and was a faithful member of the First Christian Church. Elaine had held several offices in the church during her lifetime, had taught Sunday school class, had served as Sunday school superintendent for several years and had been president of the Christian Women's Fellowship ladies group.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph D. Noble; three brothers, Joe, Gene and Arva Ridgway and a half brother Elva Wallace Ridgway; a sister Mildred Ridgway; a brother-in-law Wilber Noble; and a son-in-law Ron Thornton. Survivors include her children, Mary Ann Thornton of Appleton City, Pat Bouse and husband Don of Clinton, Missouri and Paul Noble and wife Melinda of Appleton City; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hamblin of Warrensburg, Missouri, Jason Hamblin of Peculiar, Missouri, Jodie Eberting and husband Chad of Grandview, Missouri, Dalyn Noble, Micah Noble and Carra Noble all of Appleton City; a great-grandchild Kasen Eberting; brothers, Jim Ridgway and wife Evelena of Harrisonville, Missouri and Ed Ridgway and wife Arlene of Florida; a sister Floee Lynch of Grand Bay, Alabama; a brother-in-law Glen Noble and wife Dorcus of Nevada, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Jennavea Ridgway of Clinton, Missouri and Barbara Noble of Berryton, Kansas.
