Edna Louise Bumgardner, daughter of George Hite and Minnie May (Housewright) Kelsey was born May 23, 1930 in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at the Medicalodge in Butler, Missouri at the age of 83.
Edna was united in marriage to Dones Bumgardner on December 14, 1960 in Lebanon, Missouri. They moved to Appleton City in 1999 and lived there until their health started to fail and they moved to Butler to the nursing home.
Edna's favorite thing to do was to piece and sew together quilt tops. She did this up until this past year when her health began to get worse and she was no longer able. She loved to give people her quilt tops as a thank you for helping her. Edna also enjoyed playing her guitar as she and Dones would sit on their porch and sing church hymns.
Edna and Dones were two of the most generous people that you could ever meet and they would give anyone, anything they asked for even if it meant they would do without. They loved each other very much and took care of each other until Dones' passing in 2009.
Edna is preceded in death by her husband, parents and three siblings.
Edna was a very gracious person who always had a big smile and loved to give hugs. She had an "infectious" laugh that could make anyone smile. She will be greatly missed by the people she has met through the years, especially Roseann Knowles and Kristina Klass who have loved and cared for her and Dones throughout the past 10 years.
