The SERVICE for Mrs. Crowder will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Church of God (Holiness) in Appleton City, Missouri.

OFFICIATING at the service will be Reverend Brent Bland and Pastor Norman Black.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.

The family suggests any MEMORIAL contributions be given to Hospice Compassus or the Church of God (Holiness).

Edith (Zeiler) Crowder arrived Christmas Day, 1925, to John Wilbur Zeiler, Jr. and Lena Belle (Perkins) Zeiler near Osceola, Missouri in the Damascus area. She was the second of seven children. Edith passed away peacefully at her home of 71 years near Appleton City, Missouri November 27, 2016 at 90 years of age.

Edith graduated from Appleton City High School in May of 1940. She then left home to work in Kansas City. She worked for an insurance company until she became 18. Edith worked at the North American Bomber Plant in Kansas City. Fond memories of that Christmas are recalled by her siblings as she came home with presents for everyone. To this day they remember.

She met Haldor in high school. They became engaged in February1945. Plans for marriage were uncertain as WWII was going and Haldor's agricultural deferment was nearing an end. When the news of the war ending came wedding plans were finalized. They were married .September 9, 1945 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Appleton City by Reverend G.A. Moss. They lived the first 16-18 months with Haldor's parents. Edith became the baker and her pies were something special. Edith also enjoyed canning. She had a special knack for making jelly. Edith also helped on the farm. Haldor and Edith were blessed with two daughters Antionette Lee (1949) and Mary Ann (1958). She was a wonderful mother, excellent cook and seamstress who took up quilting later in life. Haldor and Edith attended church at Church of God (Holiness). Her faith sustained her throughout life.

Edith loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had homemade cookies and made memories that create laughter. They loved her and she will be in their hearts forever.

Preceding Edith in death were her husband Haldor; parents John Wilbur, Jr. and Lena (Perkins) Zeiler; sisters Dorothy M. Zeiler, Helen Reasoner, and Joan Zeiler. Survivors include her two daughters, Antionette Lee Bracher (Larry) and Mary Ann Crowder all of Appleton City; two grandsons, Steve Bracher (Delores) and David Bracher; a granddaughter Annisa Bracher; three great-grandchildren: Ethan, Emily and Evan Bracher; siblings Roy Zeiler, Martha Thomas and Bettie Bolander; other family and a host of friends.
