Dorthy DeLyte Heiserman, 84, was born October 27, 1926 on the family farm near Rockville. She was the third of six children born to George Edward and Julia Elsie (Garrison) Siegismund. She departed this life January 10, 2011 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home in Appleton City, Missouri.

Dorthy attended Rockville School and was a teacher at Hanes School for a year before her marriage to Howard H. Heiserman on April 21, 1946. They were blessed with five children. Dorthy and Howard made their home on a farm near Appleton City. She loved caring for her family and helping with the farm chores. Through the years they have raised hogs and cattle along with row crops. During the years her children were growing up, Dorthy showed her love of sewing and talent as a seamstress by making all of her daughters' clothing. She made them beautiful clothes that they were proud to get and wear. She continued to sew for them even as they moved away from home. It was still a cherished item made with love and much appreciated. Dorthy also liked to garden. Planting a large vegetable garden and freezing or canning the fruits of her labor brought her joy; she also raised flowers and was a member of the Green Valley Club. Two other activities that she especially enjoyed were water skiing and taking photos.

Dorthy was a faithful member of the Rockville Methodist Church. She had taught Sunday School for many years and helped in other areas within the church.
Preceding Dorthy in death were her parents, one son Gerald Alan Heiserman, one brother Andrew Siegismund and a great-granddaughter Kristin Thomas. Survivors include her husband Howard of the home; her four remaining children: Bonnie and husband Bill Shelton of Montrose, Missouri, Barbara and husband Ronnie Dines of Sheldon, Missouri, Brenda and husband Kenny Bauer of Montrose, Missouri and John Howard Heiserman and wife Melody of Rockville, Missouri; four siblings: Georgia Williams and husband Raymond of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Sarah Hearting of Rockville, Missouri, Emma Cassity of Lockwood, Missouri, Aaron Siegismund and wife Mabel of Rockville, Missouri; a sister-in-law Margie Siegismund of Rockville, Missouri; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.
