Ohio Christian Church
Donald Gene Rice, son of Arthur William and Audrey Mazella (Beard) Rice, was born August 24, 1931 in Appleton City, Missouri. He passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri August 25, 2006 at 75 years of age.
Gene spent all of his life in the Appleton City area except for the time spent serving during the Army in the Korean Conflict.
On October 23, 1954 Gene and Dessa Mae McIntire were united in marriage in Osceola, Missouri and to this union five children were born. He was a devoted husband and loving father, enjoying the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene liked gardening and whittling, and also found enjoyment in spending time in his shop. He had been a member of Ohio Christian Church nearly all of his life.
Preceding Gene in death were his parents, an infant son Roger Dale and a special cousin Don Reasoner. Survivors include his wife Dessa Rice of the home; his four children DeWane Rice, Joyce Snyder, Jimmy Rice and Kenneth Rice all of Appleton City, Missouri; his nine grandchildren, Becky McGinness, Dawn Mott, Deanne Rice, Michelle Rice, Willy Snyder, Tyler Snyder, Katie Rice, Zack Rice and Emily Rice; five great-grandchildren, Jayden McGinness, Landon McGinness, Chase Mott, Addison Greathouse and Harrison Greathouse; one brother Glen Rice of Appleton City, Missouri; and one sister Wilma Foster of Montrose, Missouri.
