Donald Ray Belew was born on July 13, 1930 in Appleton City, Missouri to Oscar and Leo Belew. He departed this life on August 4, 2010 at the age of 80.
Donald spent four years of his life at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He served in the 477th Engineer Fire Fighting Platoon. After an honorable discharge in 1952, he worked as a heavy machine operator. In 1966 he started working for Peabody Coal Company and worked there until retirement. After retirement he owed Don's Place in Appleton City. He then moved to Wheatland, Mo where he fulfilled his dream of a home on the lake where he could enjoy his two favorite things, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by both parents, his brother Oscar, his sister Helen and his twin sister, Dortha.
His is survived by his wife, Wilma, daughter, Barbara (Ken) Johnson, daughter Ronda (Leroy) Strope, son Rod Belew, and step-son Billy Roberts. He is also survived by grandchildren Kelly Johnson, Ryan (Michele) Johnson, Shelly (Chris) Koehler, Adam (Amber) Strope, Erin (Willy) Snyder, Jamie Belew, Tanner Belew and Christina Roberts, and great- grandchildren Brock and Sidney Koehler, Tyler Johnson, Griffin Strope and Hayley Roberts. He also leaves behind two sisters, Bette (Vince) Engeman and Shirley Harding and sister-in-law, Wilma Belew.
