Dolores A. "Dee Dee" Pratt, 95, formerly of Montrose, Missouri, passed away peacefully at the Golden Living Center - Westwood in Clinton, Missouri October 5, 2013.
"Dee Dee" was born July 15, 1918 in Gibbon, Nebraska to Theodore and Ida (Ottele) Baer. After her father's death the family moved to a farm east of Montrose, Missouri when she was four years old. She grew up in the Montrose area, attending Lookout rural school through the 8th grade.
She started the school lunch program at St. Mary's Catholic School in Montrose in 1959 and she was the cook there until her retirement in 1988. Dolores loved bowling and had been on a league for 40 years. She enjoyed travelling and camping. She was always proud of a big vegetable garden and her flowers. "Dee Dee" was an excellent quilter and had made quilts for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also liked going to casinos and playing slots.
Dolores was always and foremost a caregiver, first raising her children, then caring for her mother until her passing and finally caring for her brother until he required more help than she was able to provide.
Preceding Dolores in death was her sister Helen Munsterman; two brothers, Wilferd and Raymond Berks; and a granddaughter Vonna Wagner.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Wagner (Jim) of Appleton City, Missouri and Lorine Henzlik (Jim) of Montrose, Missouri; five grandchildren, Sharon Dains (Robert) of Appleton City, Danny Wagner (Janet) of Lowry City, Norman Wagner (Amy), Linda Hearting (Rick) and Mike Henzlik (Michelle) all of Montrose; two sisters, Dorothy Dennis of Lexington, North Carolina and Esther Rice of Lee's Summit, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters and two step-great-great-grandsons.
