Mrs. Price's family plans a private family memorial service at a later date. Anyone wishing to pay their respects may come by Hill & Son Funeral Home to sign a page letting the family know you are thinking of them in their time of loss. No specific memorial has been selected.

Dixie June (Bailey) Price entered into eternal rest peacefully on September 2, 2015 at her daughter's home at 93 years of age. She was born June 14, 1922 to Robert and Cora Belle (Rhoades) Bailey in Harrisburg, Missouri. Dixie began her education in Harrisburg where she and her sister rode a horse from their family farm to school, daily. She met her future husband, Wendell Dickerson Price while visiting her best friend's home (Ruth, from high school). Wendell was older and went to Detroit to work. After her high school graduation, she went to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri where she went to business school and worked, later joining him in Detroit where they were married on December 27, 1941. To this union two daughters were born: Nancy and Winnie.
Dixie's family lived in the Kansas City area and Excelsior Springs most of her married life, where she was employed by the Ben Franklin wholesaler in the early 1960's.
Always a devoted wife and mother, Dixie made each of her girls' clothes when they were young. Mrs. Price's family considered her a master seamstress, as she also sewed garments for her children and grandchildren's dolls and even found time to quilt, which she dearly loved to do. Apart from her talents with needle and thread, many family and friends would agree that she was as skilled a cook as she was seamstress. Dixie was especially famous for her fried chicken and many desserts. All will dearly miss her contributions to family dinners.
Mrs. Price's life was not without adventure, however, she and Wendell loved to travel and they visited most of the lower 48 states, Canada, Mexico, and even Hawaii. Never lacking in courage, she even learned to cross country snow ski at the age of 58 while living in Colorado. While living in Ouray, she was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church becoming a deaconess. Dixie's faith proved the most influential part of her life. She actively participated in Christian ministry where ever she lived and Mrs. Price demonstrated her conviction through action and how she brought up her family. In the last years of her life Dixie attended the First Christian Church and remained particularly fond of Pastor Tony's music. She will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.
Preceding Mrs. Price in death were her parents, her husband; and ten brothers and sisters. Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy K. Sharon (Larry) of Stover, Missouri and Winnie Rapp (Duwayne) of Appleton City, Missouri; one sister Pauline Williams (Glenn); eleven grandchildren: Jimmie Durkee (Dawnah), Matthew Sharon (Pam), Amy Buckallew (Jeremy), Angela Eiler, Melanie Allwood (Eric), Lance Green, Justin Green, Tammy Reid, Danny Rapp, Jina Hill (Bill) and Jennifer Heiman (Scott); 38 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
