Dena Marie Newbill, 84, daughter of Troy and Gladys (Wigger) Cornish passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in Butler, Missouri. She was born September 27, 1928 in rural Appleton City, Missouri on the family farm.
Dena grew up in the Appleton City area and attended Prairie Hill Grade School before graduating from Appleton City High School. After graduating she worked as a waitress at the Blue Inn and the Lindale Hotel. Later she worked as a switch board operator for United Telephone. Dena was a member of Green Valley Methodist Church.

Dena married Homer P. Newbill on September 22, 1946. The couple moved to Independence, Missouri in 1957. She retired as a receptionist in 2002 from Lee's Summit Hospital.

Dena was a true friend and loyal sister; she was also independent. She liked having garage sales and loved going to them also. She enjoyed playing pitch and watching game shows and old movies.

Dena was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Homer P. Newbill who died on January 11, 1987. She is survived by her sister Leta Radford and husband Donald; nephew Bill Radford and wife Rosie, great-nephew Aaron Radford, great-niece Jennifer Bosch and husband Larry, great–great-nieces Jenna, Mika and Miciah Bosch, niece Linda Cumpton and husband Wesley all of Butler, Missouri great-nephews Shannon and Eric Cumpton of Kansas City cousins Bert Cornish and wife Vickie of Bentonville, Arkansas and Gerald Cornish of Elfrida, Arizona nephew Jim Newbill and wife Lynn of Geneva, Illinois, niece Doris Woodard of Springfield, Missouri, great-nephews Michael Newbill of Uganda, Africa and Mark Newbill of Chicago, Illinois and great-niece Marcie Pickelsimer of St, Charles, Illinois.
