Charles "C.W." Bauer, 70, Appleton City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri
C.W. was born at home on a farm east of Appleton City, December 10, 1935, to Johnnie W. Bauer and Mary A. (Zwahlen) Bauer It was there that he enjoyed farming with his family for the better part of his life. He graduated from Appleton City High School and attended one year at Southwest Baptist College at Bolivar, Missouri. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Appleton City where he served as Sunday school teacher, R.A. leader, trustee, parsonage building committee member, and bank depositor for many years. C.W. was a born again Christian and gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was awarded the Balance Farming Award for St. Clair County in 1956; he was a member of the Missouri Seed Association; volunteered at church and Moore School house. He was a pioneer for canola production in Missouri. He took great pleasure in "spinning a yarn" and hosting dinner parties for friends and family. C.W. and Patricia Mae Artz were united in marriage April 22, 1956 and to this union two children were born. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed life and his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and a host of friends.
C.W. was preceded in death by his parents Johnnie and Mary Bauer. He is survived by Patricia, his wife of almost 50 years; his son Charles W. Bauer II and his wife, Sandy of Blue Springs, Missouri; his daughter Tanya L. Dodge and her husband Lonnie of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and five grandchildren, Aaron W. and wife Meka of Lincoln, Nebraska, S. Nicole Bauer of Blue Springs, Missouri, Abby, Matthew, and Emily Dodge all of Lee's Summit, Missouri.
