Claude D. "Red" Bock, age 79 of rural Appleton City was born on December 19, 1931 and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 16, 2011 with his loving family at his side after a valiant five year struggle with cancer. He was saved at the age of 13 and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. He had many loves in his life: his wife of 58 years, Dorris Bryan, whom he met while serving in the United States Air Force Radar Bomb squadron in Albany, Georgia; his three daughters, sons-in-law, eight grandchildren and three great grandsons whom he felt were the greatest accomplishments of his life. He also loved farming, which he was able to do until the last year of his life. During high school he had played basketball and continued to love the game cheering on his favorite team, the Boston Celtics, as well as participating in league bowling.


Preceding him in death were his parents Claude E. and Bonnie Bock, brother Jim Bock, sister Betty Stewart, and infant daughter Claudrea Bock. Survivors include his wife Dorris Bock of the home, brother Marion Bock and wife Leila Mae of Appleton City, sister-in-law Julia Ann Bock of Appleton City, several nieces and nephews, three daughters: Sue and husband Dale Munsterman of Appleton City, Donna and husband David Jurgensmeyer of Montrose, Brenda and husband Steve Brown of Appleton City; eight grandchildren who knew him as "Papa": Shauna and husband Eric Townsend of Clinton, Stacie and husband Jarred Flagg of Montrose, Straton Munsterman and wife Nicki of Appleton City, Bryan Jurgensmeyer and wife Andrea of Wichita, Brandon Jurgensmeyer and fiancée Lana Smith of Montrose, Crystal and husband Bobby Dennis of Greenwood, Cody Brown and wife Amanda of Appleton City and Candace Brown of Appleton City; three great grandsons: Keaton and Kaiden Townsend of Clinton, and Camden Flagg of Montrose.
