Obituary

Clark Henry Welling was born on August 30, 1924, the son of Rupert Joseph and Constance E. (Clark) Welling.  He passed away peacefully at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri on November 16, 2023, aged 99. Clark grew up in the Montrose, Missouri area, where he graduated from High School.  He also graduated from Rockhurst College.  After completing his education, he served in the United States Air Force.  Clark then worked for Kansas City Power and Light in the accounting department in Kansas City, Missouri, until returning to Montrose to care for his mother.

Clark was a very active member of the Henry County Historical Society.  He donated the Dog Trot Log House which was moved from his property west of Montrose to the Henry County Museum complex on Franklin Street in Clinton, Missouri.  In addition, he volunteered at the museum for many years.

Clark is remembered for renovating his beautiful family home in Montrose that was placed upon the National Register of Historic Places.  It was the home of his family for more than three generations.  Clark was a talented organist, who played regularly.  He had a passion for old cars, especially enjoying his 1970 Crown Imperial.  Clark also worked with a national consortium of organ restoration, where he would travel throughout the country restoring organs.  His favorite comedian was Buster Keaton from silent film days, and he attended Buster Keaton festivals if his health allowed.  He was a kind gentleman, who always enjoyed visiting with his good friends.  While Clark outlived all his family, he will be deeply missed by his many friends.

Clark is preceded in death by his parents: Rupert Joseph and Constance E. (Clark) Welling.

Clark is survived by his many friends in the Appleton City and Montrose communities.
