Clara Belle Oberly, daughter of Clarence and Jannie Isabelle Devenny Garver passed away peacefully at 91 years of age at Appleton City manor on January 6, 2019. She graduated from Rockville High School in 1945 and attended a teaching college in Springfield, MO. She later went on to teach school for several years, until she became a homemaker for her family.
Shortly after high school Clara married Johnny Bert Oberly in 1947 at Iola, KS, and they lived in the Rockville area all of their lives. She was a longtime member of Church of God Holiness in Appleton City where she remained very active until unable. Apart from her faith life, quilting and sewing were among her favorite hobbies. Making quilts and garments for friends and family was always a cherished pastime and remember fondly. Clara also spent many happy hours toiling away in her garden, raising her favorite flowers as well as tasty vegetables. Nevertheless, her family and friends were the most important part of her life, especially her grandchildren, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in September 9, 2001, her brother, Glenn Garver, a brother-in-law Dan (Peggy) Oberly, and one niece, Rhonda Oberly.
She is survived by her Brother Earl (Elnora) Garver; sisters-in-law Joyce Garver, and Betty Jo (Gene) Davis; children, Jerry (Judy) Oberly, Rockville, MO, James (Judy), Stockton, MO, Cheryl Jane (Gary) Cook, Butler, MO; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren.
