Clara Bell Hampton passed away peacefully at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri on January 9, 2011, at the age of 87.

Clara was born in Pettis County, near Windsor, Missouri on September 10, 1923 to John Marquis and Sallie (Elliott) Henry. Clara attended Maple Grove Elementary School in Pettis County and graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, Missouri. After high school she attended business school in Sedalia, Missouri. Clara later graduated from technical school in Nevada, Missouri receiving her LPN license. She worked for several years at Countryside Estates in Appleton City.

Clara married Orland R. Hampton on August 4, 1944 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Clara and her husband were blessed with three children. They spent several years working in the poultry business. First working at Schlichtman Hatchery as chicken sexers, and also owning a route of hatcheries in eastern Kansas. They later worked for Irwin Poultry Farms in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Clara enjoyed sewing for herself and her children, working in her flower beds, and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of Clara's favorite pastimes was traveling, especially with her sister-in-law, Lorraine Walter. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton City where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother John Henry, one sister Josephine Henry, one grandson Jimmy Davis and one granddaughter Leslie Beard.

Survivors include one son Richard Hampton of Appleton City, Missouri, two daughters Sue (Jim) Davis of Appleton City, Missouri, Sally (Luke) Rives of Butler, Missouri; nine grandchildren Marc (Lori) Hampton, Kim (Straton) Raybourn, Kelly Baumberger, Kurt (Julie) Davis, Susan (Philip) Siegismund, Willie (Andrea) Davis, Chad (Cindy) Rives, Angie (Kermit) Kauffman, Joshua (Megan) Rives; sixteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
