Charles "Lynn"
Meredith, Sr.
Jun 8, 1942 — Jun 26, 2015
Charles "Lynn" Meredith, 73, was born June 8, 1942 in Montrose, Missouri to Roy "Bernard" and Neoma (Garrison) Meredith. Lynn passed away June 26, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by family. After high school Lynn served in the Army. On July 18, 1964 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Teresa and they were married for 51 years. They were blessed with four extraordinary children and one mediocre one; ok, maybe he thought all five were pretty amazing. They were also blessed with 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Lynn was a mechanic his whole life and he loved fast cars, and although his namesake tried to covert him to be a Chevy man, he remained a Ford man to the end. In April of 1971, they opened Southland DX in Harrisonville. In April of 1973, Lynn and Teresa opened Meredith's Service in Montrose. A few years later they added the parts and hardware store that they operated together until their first retirement in 1996. They worked with Meredith Recycling until they retired the second time in 2008. They later purchased and operated Papa's RV and then retired again in 2012. Lynn also served on the Montrose Volunteer Fire Dept. for 35+ years, a member of the Appleton City Masonic Lodge 412 AF & AM for 50 years, and was a lifetime member of the Montrose VFW Post 8820.
Lynn had never met a stranger and enjoyed talking about just about anything. He had a quick wit and great sense of humor and always had a joke, no matter how inappropriate it might be. He was very proud of his kids and his perfect grandchildren and princess Cami. He enjoyed his dog Pup and his cats Shadow and Lucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Christa Schussler. Survivors include his wife Teresa (Bellinghausen) Meredith of the home; his children: Christina Batschelett (Donnie), Robert Meredith (Loretta), Roy Lynn Meredith (Melissa), Charles Meredith, Jr. (Misty) and Cindy Beebe (Trent); one brother Leroy Meredith; one sister Bernita Miller; a sister-in-law Martha Goth; thirteen grandchildren: Crystal Rowlette (Andy), Chaning and Chelsea Schussler, Sarah Batschelett, Donnie Batschelett III, Brandi Hosna, Clara and Emily Sikes, Cheyenne, Gracie and Charlie Meredith, Tyler and Chase Beebe; one great-granddaughter Cami Fidler; numerous nieces and nephews.
