Charles Lee "Chuck" Vanderslice, son of Sylvester Raymond and Lola (Tabor) Vanderslice, was born June 19, 1944 in Drexel, Missouri. He passed away May 10, 2012 at Ellett Memorial Hospital at 67 years of age.

Charles and Joyce Hedrick were united in marriage September 15, 1983 in Ft. Scott, Kansas. They blended their families together into one loving unit. Charles loved spending time with his grand kids. When they got bored he would take them out driving on some of the back country roads to pick up aluminum cans. At Christmas time he would dress up as Santa for his grand kids. He had them all fooled until one year James and Michelle thought it was a little weird that Santa was missing a finger just like Pa'Pa. When the grand kids asked about it he said, "A reindeer bit it off!" The kids were all fooled once again.

Charles enjoyed fishing in Montrose with his friend Kevin. He also liked to play Solitaire on his computer and watch Walker, Texas Ranger and WWE wrestling with his wife. Charles served in the U.S. Army, the U.S. Army Reserve and later Army National Guard with Battery B Field Artillery between 1977 and 1990.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, one grandson and one granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of the home; his children and stepchildren Charles Lee Vanderslice, Jr. of Stockton, Missouri, Michael Vanderslice of Clinton, Missouri, Ben Vanderslice of Kansas City, Missouri, Misty Vanderslice of Independence, Missouri, Teresa and Rodney Roland, Sherry and Danny Fox all of Navarre, Florida, Brenda Dotson of Independence, Missouri and Charlotte and Donnie Burns of Collins, Missouri; one sister Connie Dunlap of Colony, Kansas; best friends Kevin Smith of Independence, Missouri and Lyle and Alberta Roland of Appleton City, Missouri; eight grandkids, nine step-grandkids and one step-great-grandson.
