The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Artz will be held at Hill and Son Funeral Home in Appleton City, Missouri on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.

MINISTER for the service will be Reverend Mark Wilkerson.

VISITATION will be at Hill and Son Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

INTERMENT will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.

The family suggests that MEMORIAL gifts may be made to Heartland Hospice or Appleton City Cemetery or Appleton City First Baptist Church.

Charles Frank Artz, 75, son of Frank Luke and Ethel Vesta (Wright) Artz was born in Lowry City, Missouri on February 28, 1940. He passed away at his home in Appleton City, Missouri on Friday, May 8, 2015.

Charles graduated from Appleton City High School. After graduation he worked for Dines and Cross service station for a short time before starting work in Kansas City in 1961 for Friden Computer Company working on cash registers and adding machines. He would also come to the family farm in Appleton City on the weekends during that time to raise cattle.

Charles was united in marriage to Judy Ann Thomas on August 6, 1961 at the First Baptist Church in Appleton City, Missouri. He was also a member of that church.

Charles and Judy lived in Kansas City, Missouri on the Plaza until 1969 then moved to Independence until 2008 when they moved to the family farm in Appleton City.

Charles and Judy went to Colorado on their honeymoon to watch the big rodeo and continued to go every summer for many years with members of their family or friends. They were season ticket holders for the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed attending the games for over 25 years. They also attended some Royals games. He was also a big fan of card games, especially "Hand and Foot" and played it once a week.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Jason Snodgrass, C. W. Bauer and Leslie Thomas.

Charles is survived by his loving wife Judy of the home; sisters Patricia Bauer and Phyllis Snodgrass, Appleton City; brother William D. Artz (Linda), Lawrenceville, Georgia; sister-in-law Carolyn Lampkin (Bud); Kansas City, Missouri; brother-in-law Bobby Thomas (Peggy), Butler, Missouri; good friends and partners Trent and Matt Donnohue; 9 nieces and nephews that were treated like his kids, spoiled and sent home and a host of friends.

Charles had a wonderful sense of humor which endeared him to everyone that knew him. He made a list of his "memoirs" during his last weeks. His favorite one was that he accomplished much in his life, but the only thing he didn't accomplish, was to get Matt to drive a Chevrolet pickup.
