Charleen Reva Rees,95, daughter of Floyd R. and Golden (Campbell) Rees was born November 21, 1915 in Aldrich, Missouri. She died peacefully while asleep November 5, 2011 at Appleton City Manor Nursing Home.

Charleen's family moved to Bolivar, Missouri in 1928. She was a graduate of Bolivar High School and Hopper Beauty Academy in Springfield, Missouri.

In 1936 Charleen moved to Appleton City, Missouri and opened a beauty shop which she operated for six and a half years. During that time she married Ivan Kenney and to this union one son was born. The Kenney's made their home in Appleton City except for three years she stayed with Ivan's parents in Clinton, Missouri while he was in the service.

Charleen was the bookkeeper for Yoss Bros. Grocery in Appleton City for 25 years. She served on the A.C. Library Board for nine years, was the A.C. Cemetery Board treasurer, a member of the Christian Church in Appleton City and an active member of their Christian Women's Fellowship and was a member of the St. Clair County Health Board for eleven years.

Preceding Charleen in death were her parents; her husband of 40 years, Ivan; their son Robert F. Kenney who was killed in 1965 while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; one sister Elizabeth (Buffie) German; one brother Campbell D. Rees; and dear friend Helen Johnson who was closer to her than any sister could ever be. Survivors include her son James R. Kenney, wife Betty and grandson Robert of Archie, Missouri; a very special niece Elizabeth (Beth) Hays Johnson of Gig Harbor, Washington who the Kenney's helped raise and loved as a daughter; great niece Lara Johnson Kempton, who Charleen thought of as a granddaughter. Also surviving are nieces Rhonda German Bessinas of Phoenix, Arizona, Camilla Rees Anderson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Nancy Rees Sales of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Nita Rees Outhous of Midlothian, Virginia; nephews, Ron German of Belfair, Washington and David Rees of Forest, Virginia.

Following the service a reception will be held at the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) located at 100 S. Chestnut St. in Appleton City.
