Cecil Herman Cook, son of Steven and Loretta (Kaumans) Cook, was born August 3, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life at his home near Montrose, Missouri May 1, 2005 at 72 years of age.
Mr. Cook served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict being stationed in Alabama and Georgia. He was united in marriage to Alice Gengler October 17, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri and to this union eight children were born.
Cecil lived in Montrose, Missouri most of his life farming and working as a pit boss for the Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elderbird Camping Club.
Cecil enjoyed baseball and played until he was 60 years old. He liked to camp and took pride in doing his best at whatever work he was doing. He loved his land and his farm, raising flowers and cutting wood. Cecil had always wanted a log home, finally enjoying the last nine years of his life there.
Preceding Cecil in death were his parents, one son Paul, and a sister-in-law Wilma Cook. Survivors include his wife Alice Cook of the home; seven children, Debbie and husband Bill Vogel of Montrose, Missouri, Patty Cook of Belton, Missouri, Jeff Cook and wife Tammy of Appleton City, Missouri, Phil Cook and wife Lisa of Marshall, Missouri, Jenny and husband Mike Mitchell of Clinton, Missouri, Chris Cook and wife Shannon of Montrose, Missouri and Bill Cook of Springfield, Missouri; four brothers, Gene Cook and wife Darles of Jefferson City, Missouri, Bob Cook and wife Ginny of Clinton, Missouri, Ralph Cook of Independence, Missouri and Bill Cook and wife Jeanette of Butler, Missouri; 17 grandchildren, Chad and Mandy Vogel, Eric and Roxy Teeman, Jason Teeman, Dustin Teeman, Brittany Cook, Cassidy Cook, Cecil Cook, Melissa Cook, Seth Cook, Eric Kleva, Desireé Desnoyers, Travis Mitchell, Angie Mitchell, Aaron Cook and Garret Cook; and three great-granddaughters, Paige Teeman, Brittany Teeman and Abby Vogel.
