Alverta Mary Rodick, daughter of Henry and Josephine (Brandt) Witte, was born March 1, 1916 near Appleton City, Missouri. Alverta passed away at Ellett Memorial Hospital on May 23, 2012 at the age of 96. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church from infancy, being confirmed on May 4, 1930. She attended Centennial School east of Appleton City and the Lutheran parochial school.

Alverta was employed in Kansas City during World War II at Pratt Whitney and later at the Donaldson Chocolate Factory.

On February 26, 1949, she was married to Dick Rodick while in Kansas City. In 1953, Alverta and Dick moved with their family to Sedalia where Dick worked for Rival Manufacturing. They moved to Appleton City in 1966 and resided on the Henry Witte farm east of Appleton City until moving to town in 1977. They later moved to Beech Street Apartments. At the time of her death, Alverta was residing at the Appleton City Manor.

The many joys in Alverta's life included spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, working with flowers and quilting, which she enjoyed so greatly until her eyesight prevented her from continuing. She enjoyed Trinity Lutheran Church Ladies' Aid and Bible Study.

Alverta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two young daughters, Nelda Christine Rodick and Ruth Evelyn Rodick, and a sister, Edna Hearting.

She is survived by a daughter, Jo Ann Mueller and husband Carl of Lincoln, Missouri, a son John and wife Kathy of Appleton City, one sister, Nadine Hearting of Appleton City, three grandchildren, Jason Mueller of Lincoln, Missouri, Mike Rodick and wife Casey of Springfield, Missouri, Jennifer Rodick of Springfield, Missouri, one niece and one nephew.
