FUNERAL MASS for Alice will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Montrose, Missouri.

OFFICIATING at Mass will be Father Tom Hermes.

VISITATION will precede Mass at 10:00 a.m. followed by THE ROSARY being said at 10:30 a.m.

INTERMENT will be in St. Ludger's Cemetery, Germantown, Missouri.

The family suggest any MEMORIAL donations be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Germantown Cemetery Association, and may be left at the funeral home or at the church the day of the service.

Alice Louise (Greufe) Westhusing, 93, daughter of the late Theodore (Ted) C. and Clara Mary (Rotert) Greufe, was born January 31, 1925, in Germantown, Missouri. She passed away on March 2, 2018, at The Arbors Assisted Living in Clinton, Missouri.

Alice attended Maple Grove Elementary School in Germantown, Missouri. After graduating from 8th grade in 1939, she remained on the family farm to help her parents with household duties, gardening, and caring for her younger siblings whom she "covered" for when they hid their peas under their plates and were involved in other mischievous antics. She moved to Kansas City in 1945 where she worked for Hammett Electric making supplies for WWII.

Alice married Glen Westhusing, a former classmate from Germantown, on January 13, 1948. They moved to Clinton, Missouri, where Alice worked as a waitress at Gracie's Café for eight years. She also briefly worked at Clearfield Cheese before moving to Butler, Missouri. During the 33 years that Alice and Glen lived in Butler, she worked as an Avon Representative as well as in the Butler School District cafeteria from 1982-1991. In 1991, they moved to Montrose, Missouri, where she continued to work for Avon until her retirement after a 48 year career. She had been a resident of The Arbors in Clinton since January 2015.

She was a faithful member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Montrose, Missouri, as well as the Altar Sodality where she helped make quilts and worked at the Labor Day Picnics. Alice took pride in her work for Avon and won numerous Albee Awards and received many other honors. Alice enjoyed going to garage sales, auctions, and bowling on an afternoon league in Butler. She and Glen relished traveling with family and playing cards with friends. Alice loved visiting with family and friends where her quick wit and laughter were always welcomed.

Alice was preceded in death by Glen in August of 2013, her husband of 68 years, whom she cared for in their home after he became disabled. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by her siblings: Benita (Joe) Grinzinger, Boniface (June), Ludger (Rita), Leland, and Howard Greufe; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Erwin Vogel, Joe Burrough, Dave (Hazel), Elmer (Caroline), Linus, and Clyde "Bud" Westhusing, Eunice (Cletus) Schussler, and Greg Schussler. She is survived by her sisters: Beatrice Vogel of Montrose, Missouri, and Ellen Burrough of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Greufe of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, Arlene Schussler of Deepwater, Missouri, and Dorothy Westhusing of Montrose, Missouri; many nieces and nephews.
