FUNERAL MASS for Mrs. Mayer will be held at
Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in
Montrose, Missouri on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at
10:00 a.m.

OFFICIATING will be
Father Thomas Hermes.

ROSARY & VISITATION will be at the church on Monday, May 26, 2014
with the ROSARY being said at 6:00 p.m. followed by
VISITATION 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

INTERMENT will be in
St. Mary's Cemetery in
Montrose, Missouri.

The family suggests any MEMORIAL donations be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or St. Mary's School.

Mildred Aileene Mayer, 79, of Montrose, departed this life Friday May 23, 2014 at Golden Living Center – Westwood, Clinton, Missouri.

Mildred Aileene Mayer, daughter of Alfred and Hazel (Steele) Wafel was born June 1, 1934 in Butler, Missouri. Aileene was a 1952 graduate of Appleton City High School. She loved playing the piano and began giving private lessons when she was a senior in high school.

Aileene was united in marriage to Paul Louis Mayer in October 1953 at Immaculate Conception, Montrose, Missouri. They were blessed with three children-Paula, Dennis and Steve. In 1958 they moved to Montrose, Missouri where she continued giving piano lessons, sometimes while holding her own babies on her lap. All three of her children learned to play the piano, organ and guitar. They played the organ for morning masses while they were in grade school at St. Mary's and guitar in a band-Peace Evaluations.

Aileene began playing for Immaculate Conception church in the 1960's after teaching herself to play the organ and she also taught herself to play the guitar. She played the piano and organ for the adult and children's choirs, and taught music at St. Mary's School for over 50 years. She took great pride in teaching music to the school children and teaching them to become excited about music, as she loved it. Through the years, Aileene has taught hundreds of students to play the piano, organ and guitar. Several of her students participated in the music festival at Avila College in Kansas City and music contests at Central Missouri State University. All of her students received good ratings.

Many children, now adults, have told Aileene how much they appreciated her teaching and what an impact she had on their life. Aileene had the honor of playing for over 190 weddings and anniversaries over the years. She had a passion to do her best for each event. She spent countless hours practicing and preparing for these events.

Aileene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul and son-in-law Kent Johnson. Survivors include her children: Paula (John) Kinder of Clinton, Missouri, Dennis (Ketra) Mayer of St. Peters, Missouri and Steve (Kelly) Mayer of Lee's Summit, Missouri; grandchildren: Chris, Nick and Dustin Johnson of Springfield, Missouri; Megan Mayer currently working in Memphis, Tennessee, Kyle and Danielle Mayer of Lee's Summit; step grandchildren: Dawn (Josh) Timberlake of Chicago, Illinois, Josh (Mindy) Kinder of Petersburg, Illinois; Jeremy and Nathan Baker of Chicago, Illinois; step-great-grandchildren: Lily and Gabe Timberlake of Chicago, Illinois; Caitlyn Campbell and Kamden Kinder of Petersburg, Illinois. And her beloved pet, Toby.
