Ada Cross, daughter of John M. and Susan M. (Wiley) Sutton, was born in St. Clair County, Missouri August 28, 1913. She passed away October 8, 2006 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at 93 years of age.
Ada and Granville Jackson "Jack" Cross were united in marriage April 16, 1934 in Butler, Missouri and to this union four sons were born. She was retired from the Empire Gas Company where she had worked as an office manager. During her lifetime Ada had resided in Roscoe, Kansas City and Rockville. She and Jack had made their home in Appleton City where she has remained for over 30 years. Mrs. Cross was a member of the First Baptist Church in Appleton City and had served as Sunday school teacher of the junior high girls, Girls Ambassador leader, and had been the co-leader of the youth department.
Preceding Ada in death were her parents, her husband, and one son Kenneth. Survivors include her three sons, Gerald Cross and wife Judy of Appleton City, Wally Cross and wife Debra of Appleton City and Dennis Cross and wife Gayle of Camden Point, Missouri; daughter-in-law Lena Cross of Appleton City; two granddaughters, Kim Dains and Jackie Perry; six grandsons, Jeff, Mike, Doug, Clinton, Chris and Alex Cross; two step-granddaughters, Aimee Jackson and Denise Schuchmann; two step-grandsons Allen Sollars and Tad Heater; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
