Alberta Gladys Foster, daughter of Robert Heath and Ocie Frances (Jones) Smith, was born March 22, 1923 in Bates County, Missouri. She passed away July 10, 2006 at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri at 83 years of age.
Gladys spent all except nine years of her life on the farm where she was born. She was united in marriage to Charles LeRoy Foster September 30, 1940 and to this union three children were born. Mrs. Foster was a loving wife and mother. Her family was very important to her. Along with household duties she was employed at Wilkerson's Restaurant, Cloverleaf Manufacturing and Appleton City Manor Nursing Home during her lifetime.
Gladys was baptized in the Pleasant Home Baptist Church July 26, 1953. She enjoyed reading her Bible and lived her faith through helping others rather than being concerned with herself. She liked watching and feeding her birds and squirrels, also sewing and quilting. She was a true Royals baseball fan, following their games and statistics very carefully.
Preceding Gladys in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her three children, Georgia and Jake Foster of Montrose, Missouri, Bill and Brenda Foster of Appleton City, Missouri, and Robert and Kathy Foster of Belton, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Snodgrass of Appleton City, Missouri and Edna Foster of Kingsville, Missouri; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
